Louis XVI clock signed Richard in Paris
A Louis XVI gilt bronze terminal clock on a white marble base. The movement with silk thread suspension and striking at the hours and a half hours is inscribed in the terminal surrounded by two lion's muzzle holding a knotted cord in their mouths. Perfect working order. The enamelled dial marks the hours in Roman characters and the hours in Arabic characters. It is signed: RICHARD à PARIS. (Christophe Richard, born in 1753; rue Croix des Petits Champs) It is dated 1788 on the spring. Restorations: use and maintenance.
Period: late 18th century.
